JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for Transit Dispatch Employees, Processes, and Technology
QUALIFICATIONS:
A.A. or A.A.S. in business administration or management and/or a minimum of 2 years equivalent
combination of training and experience in public transit dispatching and/or database management.
Knowledge of dispatching practices and procedures, transportation systems, and employability services.
Must maintain a CDL with a passenger endorsement. Experience in the supervision of employees.
NEEDED ATTRIBUTES:
Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Self-starter with superior organizational
and administrative skills. Must be comfortable with learning and managing unfamiliar software and with
database management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises and evaluates direct report employees.
Manages and evaluates computer aided dispatching software in support of dispatching operations.
Ensures manifest and database accuracy for efficient execution of daily service routes.
Coordinates with subscription contract representatives to assess needs and facilitate changes in
service delivery systems to accommodate service needs.
Ensures consistent dispatch practices across all service areas.
Collects and analyzes information on patterns of need and determines solutions.
Oversees and evaluates route scheduling, verification, and daily dispatching practices.
Provides operational training for dispatchers and new hires.
Manages scheduling, scheduling changes, and communication of changes to applicable employees.
Perform dispatching and bus driving duties as needed.
Works with Transit Managers to coordinate consistent service delivery in individual service areas.
Delivers and updates training programs on dispatch systems, procedures, and policies.
