Arrowhead Transit Launches New Service in Hibbing with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Hibbing, MN — August 1, 2024

Arrowhead Transit, Minnesota’s largest rural public transit system, celebrated a significant milestone today with the launch of its new service in Hibbing. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at City Hall and coincided with the Hibbing Public Library’s Summer Fun Event, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere for the community.

With this expansion, Arrowhead Transit now offers both door-to-door and city bus services in Hibbing, providing vital public transit access to key locations such as Fairview Health, Minnesota North College – Hibbing, and Range Regional Airport. This enhancement is set to improve connectivity and accessibility for residents and visitors alike.

Dominick Olivanti, Public Relations Director, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership:

Today marks a significant milestone as we celebrate the transition from Hibbing Area Transit to Arrowhead Transit. We are thrilled to be working with such a talented team in Hibbing, including Mayor Pete Hyduke, the city council, Administrator Greg Pruszinske, Erin Schirmer, and the rest of the Hibbing team. Your support and collaboration have been invaluable.

We also extend our gratitude to the Minnesota Department of Transportation for their assistance during this transition.

Arrowhead Transit has been serving Northeastern Minnesota since 1974, and we are excited to further engrain ourselves into the Iron Range communities. This transition will enable us to provide seamless travel from Virginia to Grand Rapids, enhancing connectivity and accessibility for everyone.

Hibbing is the fastest-growing city north of Duluth, presenting exciting opportunities to expand our public transportation networks. As we continue to grow with the community, our commitment remains steadfast in delivering reliable and accessible transportation services.
