Arrowhead Transit to Host the 2025 Minnesota Bus Roadeo
Arrowhead Transit and the Minnesota Public Transportation Alliance Announce 38th Annual Competition
Chisholm, MN – Arrowhead Transit, in collaboration with the Minnesota Public Transportation Alliance (MPTA), is thrilled to announce that it will host the 2025 (38th Annual) Minnesota Bus Roadeo. The event will take place on July 19, 2025, at the Minnesota Discovery Center in cooperation with Discover the Range and the Minnesota Discovery Center. This exciting competition is free and open to the public.
Spectators can look forward to watching the roadeo, attempting to park a mini version of a bus (an extended golf cart), visiting various food trucks, and cheering on their local bus driving competitors.
What is a Bus Roadeo?
The bus roadeo consists of two parts: a driving course and safety checks. The driving course challenges participants with corner backing, parallel parking, tight turns, and weaving. The safety checks include lift inspection, hazard inspection, and passenger safety evaluations.
Arrowhead Transit is honored to have been selected to host this Minnesota Statewide event. Recent roadeos were held in Shakopee (2024), Rochester (2023), and Austin (2022).
MPTA Events Coordinator, Heidi Buss, expressed excitement about the event, stating, “We (MPTA) look forward to being up north and enjoying Northern Minnesota hospitality. The last time we were ‘Up North’ was in Duluth just under a decade ago.”
Hosting this event allows Arrowhead Transit to welcome approximately 300 visitors to the Minnesota Discovery Center, showcasing the many attractions of northern Minnesota. The Discover the Range team hopes to encourage attendees and competitors to extend their stay and experience all that the Mesabi Iron Range has to offer.
