Driving a transit route in Northern Minnesota is not like driving anywhere else. The distances are long, the weather is unpredictable, and the people riding depend on you to show up no matter what.
Arrowhead Transit recently updated its driver training program to make sure our staff are ready for all of it. That means refreshed bus safety and evacuation videos, updated materials that reflect the actual vehicles our drivers operate, and training built around the real situations they encounter on the road. Our customer service team got the same attention, including new phone etiquette training tools developed right here by our own staff.
This was not about checking a box. It was about making sure the people who show up every day, in the cold, on the long hauls, for the riders who have no other option, feel equipped and confident doing it.
Northern Minnesota is a big place. We are glad to have the people we have covering it.
