Becky was named Arrowhead Transit’s Dispatcher of the Month for April.

Have you heard the phrase: “A smile is worth a thousand words?” It is important for dispatchers to have strong verbal communication skills, but it is equally important for clients/callers to hear a friendly voice while calling to request a ride.

Dispatcher Becky emanates that quality. She has a warm and bubbly personality that is demonstrated through phone conversations, and for that reason she was named Arrowhead Transit’s Dispatcher of the Month for April.

“She has one of the best attitudes,” said Transit Manager Sandy Wheelecor. “Becky is such a rockstar.”

“Remaining positive, even when the job gets tough, is key to best serving riders,” Becky stated. “My friendliness and the caring side of me are my best attributes. I’m also a really good problem solver.”

Becky has been employed by Arrowhead Transit for six months, but dispatching is not new to her. She dispatched at her previous job as an equipment rental and sales manager for 12 years.

“I left that job to pursue a career with Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA), where a good friend of mine works and had been recruiting me for several years,” she said. “I saw the posting for a dispatcher, and thought it was my way in. There was definitely plenty to learn about the buses, but my experience working with people in a similar role has made the transition a little easier.”

Becky admitted she was surprised to be named Dispatcher of the Month.

“It’s awesome,” she said. “It’s flattering to be recognized when there are so many others that are deserving.”

When she is not dispatching, Becky said she spends as much time with her two children as possible.

“They’re my main focus,” she said. “I take great pride in being a mom.”
