At Arrowhead Transit, our drivers are much more than just the people behind the wheel—they are the heart and face of our organization. Every day, they step into their vehicles with a shared passion to support our local communities through meaningful, fulfilling work.

One driver who truly embodies this mission is Dennis Eng.

A Journey of Flexibility and Purpose

Dennis’s path to Arrowhead Transit began while he was pastoring a local church. Looking for a role that could balance his primary calling, he started as a casual driver needing about 20 hours a week. Arrowhead Transit worked with his schedule, providing three or four days a week to give him exactly the hours he needed.

Years later, when Dennis retired from pastoring, his needs shifted—he was ready for full-time work. Once again, Arrowhead Transit was able to accommodate his changing life stage, transitioning him smoothly into a full-time route.

Whether you’re balancing another career, looking for part-time flexibility, or searching for a full-time second chapter after retirement, Dennis’s story highlights how adaptable a driving career at Arrowhead Transit can be.

Overcoming the Initial Intimidation

Like starting any new job, Dennis’s first day came with a bit of intimidation. He trained alongside one of the organization’s most experienced drivers—a 13-year veteran who effortlessly managed schedules, routes, and passenger needs in his head.

Dennis remembers thinking, “Can I really do that?”

With time, hands-on experience, and supportive teammates, Dennis quickly built his own confidence behind the wheel, discovering that the daily rhythm of driving comes naturally once you get into the groove.

Office Views & Daily Connection

For Dennis, one of the greatest perks of driving for Arrowhead Transit is the unique perspective on the world around him.

“I really enjoy the outdoors… even though you’re in a vehicle, you’ve got this wonderful panorama. I can enjoy the sunrises in the morning, and I can enjoy seeing the wildlife.”

Beyond the scenic routes, the true highlight of Dennis’s day is the people. Over the years, Dennis has built genuine relationships with his regular riders. When he’s away on leave, passengers notice and ask about him.

“They don’t meet my manager, they don’t meet the Chief Executive Officer—they meet me. We are the face of Arrowhead. It’s a privilege to greet them, chat with them, and make their day just a little bit better.”
