October 30, 2025 – Virginia, MN
Arrowhead Transit recorded 9,540 passenger trips between October 19–25, reflecting an 11.2% increase in ridership compared to the previous week. The rise came as the Iron Range welcomed the Pan Continental Curling Championships, an international event that transformed Virginia into a gathering place for athletes, officials, and fans from across North America, Asia, and Oceania.
Transit officials say the week-long championship helped showcase how public transportation supports both the local economy and the region’s growing reputation for hosting world-class events. With matches held at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center, visitors and residents alike used Arrowhead Transit buses to reach hotels, restaurants, and shops throughout the Range.
The ridership boost underscores how large-scale events can create measurable economic and community impact. More riders mean more activity at local businesses, increased visibility for host cities, and a stronger sense of connectivity across the Iron Range.
Arrowhead Transit continues to see consistent ridership growth throughout 2025, reflecting both the agency’s commitment to service reliability and the public’s growing confidence in regional transit options.
